Scoring goals is an art form! It is what keeps football clubs going, what keeps fans happy and it is certainly one of the key elements used in building a player’s reputation. MLS has plenty of attacking talent this year. But, who will end the year as the league’s top scorer?

Today we take a look at some of the top poachers keeping defenders on their toes in the MLS. How many of these players are you choosing for you fantasy football draft?

Carlos Vela (LAFC)

He’s the pride and joy of the MLS system. The star striker has scored as of now 16 goals and looks to be in the driver seat to clinch the MLS Golden Boot. Fans will certainly rejoice at the prospect of getting to witness Vela’s talent firsthand. LAFC, especially will hope Vela can help keep them at the top of the Western Conference.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic (LA Galaxy)

Ibrahimovic is the face of the modern MLS, arguably the most technical player in the league and… he knows it. Not since David Beckham has the league had a player of his fame. This season Zlatan has scored 11 goals and arguably would have grabbed more had he not have to deal with minor injury worries. Ibrahimovic is still a contender for the top prize provided he is healthy and assisted by his teammates.

Josef Martinez (Atlanta)

Martinez is in top form at the moment, having had a breakout month during the games played in May. He has now scored 10 goals. But, the Venezuelan born forward looks to have what it takes to earn the top spot this year.

Wayne Rooney (DC United)

Wayne RooneyThose fearing an early retirement from Rooney were proved wrong by the former Manchester United player’s consistent performances in the MLS. He has scored 8 goals in 2019. However, nobody would be surprised if he grabs more. He is one of the league’s most experienced players, looks to be enjoying his time in the States and everyone is aware of his potential.

Nani (Orlando)

Another former Manchester United player who has just arrived in the MLS, Nani has not wasted time in making an impression. He has thus far scored 8 goals in 13 games. Nani is 32 and clearly anxious to show he still possess many of the skills that have made him a worldclass player, winner of the Premier League, Champions League and Euro 2016.
