South Korea's flag - World Cup preview

South Korea will take part in their ninth World Cup. One of Asia’s strongest sides, the Koreans’ qualification following a pretty uneventful World Cup campaign, shocked no one. Tottenham Hotspur’s Son is the team’s star, but the national team’s manager is looking for the entire squad to perform above their usual standard and remove some of the pressure off Son’s shoulders.

The group they’ve been drawn into isn’t offering the South Koreans many favors. They’re the underdogs in all of their three fixtures, of course, but they’ve proven to be capable of rising to the occasion.

Above everything South Korea remains a consistent national team, something that a region looking to grow their football culture is in need of at the moment.
