The major Spanish teams are all involved in La Liga encounters this weekend. All eyes will be cast towards the performances of title contenders Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Sevilla as the season nears it’s finale.
La Liga leaders Real Madrid play first. Real travels to 18th place Sporting Gijon. Real’s defender Dani Carvajal will be out through suspension. With a second leg against Bayern Munich looming on the horizon, it’s possible Real will rest some of its players. There are also a few players who have picked up minor injuries and may play a smaller role in the game against Sporting Gijon. Those are: Raphael Varane and Gareth Bale. Cristiano Ronaldo picked up a small knock at the end of the game against Bayern. Pepe should be out through injury until early May.
As for Gijon, the team will not be able to use Burgui who is suspended for one match. Lacina Traoré and Pereira Dos Santos Douglas‘s hamstring injuries do not look very serious and they are likely to play.
Barcelona take on Real Sociedad, knowing they have a three-point difference between themselves and leaders Real Madrid. Forward Neymar is out through a three match ban. Aleix Vidal Parreu and Rafinha have longer term injuries. Messi, Alba and Mascherano have some medical problems, however it’s unlikely it will stop them from playing. Sociedad will likely be without Jon Guridi and Carlos Martinez.
Atletico Madrid face Osasuna without very worries about their starting team. Only Koke is surely out through suspension. Sime Vrsaljko and Miguel Angel Moya have slight injuries, but should be playing. Osasuna are still without Didier Digard, Miguel Flano, Tano Bonnín, who are dealing with long-term injuries.
Other players out through suspension: Claudio Matías Kranevitter (Sevilla), Federico Ricca (Malaga), Victor Sanchez Mata (Espanyol), Zou Feddal and Édgar Méndez (Alaves).
