Neymar has defended his current form at Barcelona calling it his best season in La Liga. His goal against Celta Vigo on Sunday was however only his eighth in the current campaign.

Neymar believes that despite the lack of goals he is showing good form for Barcelona this season. Neymar was on the scoresheet for his team in the important 5-0 victory ver Celta Vigo. Lack of goals aside, Neymar has been an important player for Barcelona this season. The Brazilian has contributed 8 assists and his technique and pace have been a larger part of Barca’s style of play then in previous seasons.

If history is to repeat itself, then Neymar needn’t worry about scoring. Neymar only scored nine goals in his first season, following his record-breaking transfer from Santos. He followed that with campaigns in which he scored 22 and 24 goals, making him one of the best strikers in the world.

“I think it’s my best season at Barca,” Neymar told the club’s website. “Both myself and the team are getting better and that is important.”

Barcelona are once again top of the league in Spain. They have a one point advantage against Real, but their Madrid rivals have a game in hand. Despite this, coach Luis Enrique announced his plans to step down from his job at the end of the season. News caught fans and players off-guard. Neymar talked about his disappointment at hearing the news:

“It’s sad because he is someone we have a lot of affection for. We have been with him for three seasons and we have a lot of faith in him,”  Neymar said.

“We wish him the best in life. He knows what is best for him and we are just happy with how he has helped us in the last few years in which we have won so many trophies.”

Barcelona face one of their most difficult tests on Wednesday when they take on PSG in the second leg of the Champions League round of 16 tie. PSG secured a clear advantage after winning 4-0 in the first leg. Fans of the Spanish side are confident their team can offer a comeback. Manager Luis Enrique is less confident of a miracle in Wednesday’s clash.

“PSG will pressure us worse and will not defend like Celta,” the manager told Movistar Partidazo. “But our trust is basic. The tie is lost beforehand but in wonderful circumstances you can succeed. We’ll try it until the last minute.”

“This crowd values these players and they communicate that to them. I’ve never seen a lack of attitude in my players and that’s why the club is faithful and confident that we can have a comeback [against PSG] – why not,?” Enrique added.
