My GW9 Fantasy Squad Reveal
For GW9, I’m giving particular focus to recent form and taking into account budget concerns, typically moving for more affordable players over established stars. I’m choosing a 5-4-1 formation. Here is my fantasy football selection:
Goalkeeper
James Trafford (Leeds – 3* in FootballCoin) – Leeds has one of the best defensive records in the EPL. Trafford has some of the best stats. Opponents Bournemouth are struggling to score (unless they’re playing Manchester United or AC Milan).
Defenders
Jan-Paul van Hecke (Tottenham – 4* in FootballCoin) – This defender has been by far Spurs’ best player. Against Crystal Palace, he can put in a dominating performance, I think.
Jayden Bogle (Leeds – 2* and Free w/lease in FootballCoin) – Bogle’s performances have been consistent. Leeds’ defence has been strong. I have faith in this performance.
Michael Kayode (Brentford – 2* and Free w/lease in FootballCoin) – Kayode is a young star finding life in the EPL… quite easy. On the right flank, he’s one of the top defenders. He’s also very affordable.
Maxim de Cuyper (Brighton – 2* and Free w/lease in FootballCoin) – Honestly, I am surprised that Maxim de Cuyper is still a free pick in FootballCoin. It feels like he’s been a top defender in the EPL and in international football for ages.
Gabriel Magalhaes (Arsenal – 5* in FootballCoin) – There’s no denying how good Gabriel is. There’s little denying that he’s improved over last season. The Brazilian is a player that’s worth spending some of your budget on.
Midfielders
Pascal Gross (Brighton – 3* in FootballCoin) – Pascal Gross is simply one of the best German footballers of the past decade. The fact that he’s still decisive for a very in-form Brighton alone should convince you of picking him.
Lewis Hall (Newcastle – 2* and Free w/lease in FootballCoin) – Is Lewis Hall still playing for Newcastle? Yes, but who knows for how long. Hall is an attacking midfielder looking to follow Anthony Gordon toward great things.
Matt Grimes (Coventry – 2* and Free w/lease in FootballCoin) – Grimes knows that he’s living the dream. Coventry’s form has turned a corner. And the game against Sunderland will be a do-or-die mission.
Nicolas Jackson (Aston Villa – 2* and Free w/lease in FootballCoin) – Jackson is settling in at Aston Villa. I think that last week’s performance against City is just a glimpse of what he’s capable of.
Forwards
Morgan Rogers (Chelsea – 3* in FootballCoin) – Surprised? Well, you haven’t considered that Rogers is facing Manchester United’s sluggish defenders this weekend, or just how consistent he’s been over recent seasons.
3 Must-Have “Sleeper Picks” for GW9
- Konstantinos Tzolakis (Hull City – Goalkeeper) – Great stats from one week to the next, and the price tag makes the Greek goalie one to consider
- Luka Vuskovic (Brighton – Defender) – One of the breakout young stars of the new season, the Croatian is a player worth following each week
- Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall (Everton – Midfielder) – Possibily the best player in the EPL to still be rated 2* in FootballCoin.
