My GW3 Fantasy Squad Reveal

Do you really know anything by Gameweek 3? No, and that’s the reason why it’s good to go for picks that would make sense in GW1, just as well as in GW38. Now, to those, I would say, add some affordable players that are in good form and/or are very eager to prove themselves.

I’d also say to consider the fact that consistency is hard to come by in a competition that is as physically draining as the Premier League. Those who have proven themselves time and time again, and have a good injury record, should be picked regardless of one or two off games.

Yes, as usual, I’m playing a 5-4-1. Here’s my mix of affordable cards and proven talent.

Position Player Name Club Card Tier Why Included for GW1
GK Mats Sels Nott. Forest 2★ – Free w/ lease Proven talent who has the luxury of facing Spurs strikers
DEF 1 John Egan Hull 2★ – Free w/ lease Veteran defender who is, somehow, at the top of his game
DEF 2 Semi Ajayi Hull  2★ – Free w/ lease Has shown enough to warrant another chance
DEF 3 Ben White Arsenal 3★ Top defender who is back to full fitness
DEF 4 Maxim de Cuyper Brighton 2★ – Free w/ lease International who is playing in a well-organised team
DEF 5 Ruben Dias Manchester City  5★ World-class defender who is stepping up as team leader
MID 1 Oscar Bobb Fulham 2★ – Free w/ lease Creative player who tends to come alive against less determined opposition
MID 2 Bruno Fernandes Manchester United 5★ United’s best player and one of the top midfielders in the world atm
MID 3 Alex Scott Bournemouth 2★ – Free w/ lease This could be Alex Scott’s breakout year. Newcastle has little that can stop him
MID 4 Dominik Szoboszlai Liverpool 5★ Scores points regardless of Liverpool being good or bad
FW Erling Haaland Manchester City 5★ Strong striker against a weaker opponent who might crack under EPL pressure
AM Wayne Rooney Retired AM 5★ A 5* Assistant Manager is a must-have

3 Must-Have “Sleeper Picks” for GW1

Here are some players worth scratching your chin for once in a while.

  • Rayan Cherki (Creative Attacker) – a lot is being asked of Cherki, but the pressure seems to be moving the youngster and his career in the right direction. Playing against a newly promoted side can help him earn points
  • Lewis-Potter Keane (Surprise Goalscorer) – he is part of a strong, organised team and the game against Sunderland looks like a good opportunity to add to his goal tally
  • Zion Suzuki (Top Shotstopper) – He’s world-class, tasked to replace Emi Martinez and will face an Aston Villa side that’s undergoing painful changes. The Japanese goalie can shine here!
