Champions League fantasy football remains the main draw for fans of fantasy sports and, as it turns out, remarkably unpredictable since the recent change in format for the UCL.
Cynics may claim that, in the end, it’s likely that the same superclubs are going to go through. But what about all the surprises along the way?
Those are practically guaranteed and more than likely to throw your fantasy football selection into a tailspin.
Unless, that is, if you’ve prepared…
Going into Week 2 of the Round Stage of the UCL 2025/26 season, here are the fantasy football players that should improve your selection. I’ve thrown in a few of the players that you might want to avoid as well.
Now, don’t forget that knowledge is only valuable if you use it. Remember that you can sign up for the free (and private) FootballCoin contests and receive real prizes. Your UCL fantasy football invite link is here!
Are These the Players You Need for Champions League Fantasy Football for Round 2?
FootballCoin tends to award creative thinkers. There are numerous ways to play the game, with many strategies from which to choose.
One strategy, sure, worth considering is picking players from teams likely to overpower their opponents within the first rounds of the UCL.
Inter Milan – Slavia Prague is one such game. Internazionale has been struggling for form under new management. Still, I expect that new keeper Josep Martinez can keep a clean sheet. Francesco Acerbi and the attacking wing-back Denzel Dumfries are must-picks.
Arsenal should, technically, make light work of Olympiacos. However, Mikel Arteta will also likely consider the fitness of some of his players. Still, you’re likely to find Riccardo Calafiori, Mikel Merino and Viktor Gyokeres in the starting eleven, and you’ll want to pick them.
The biggest mismatch, however, is Kairat – Real Madrid. Sure, some may still have a recollection of Real travelling to Tiraspol a couple of years back and surprisingly losing. But that seems like the kind of event that occurs once every few decades.
You’ll want to consider taking a chance on premium cards like those of Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. Meanwhile, Arda Guller is also worth considering, as is the new kid on the Madrid block, Franco Mastantuono.
Looking for a potential surprise? Your fantasy football team could take advantage of Liverpool’s seeming tiredness as they meet in-form Turkish champions Galatasaray. Victor Osimhen and Leroy Sane could give the Reds’ defence a few headaches.
Should You Avoid These UCL Players in Round 2?
Liverpool is, no doubt, a great side. However, the English champions also appear to be a tired team, despite their recent victories. Defenders may be made to suffer. Jeremie Frimpong and Andrew Robertson might be just a little too sluggish here.
I like Folarin Balogun this season. But can he succeed against Gigi Donnarumma this midweek? Best not risk it!
I’m predicting Bodo/Glimt to rise to the challenge of the UCL against Tottenham. Brennan Johnson and Richarlison, in my book, will have a tough time against the Norwegian side’s defence.
Meanwhile, keep in mind Arsenal’s injury list, which includes Noni Madueke and Kai Havertz. Real Madrid, meanwhile, will be without defenders Trent Alexander-Arnold, Eder Militao and Antonio Rüdiger. Chelsea is even worse off being without Cole Palmer, Wesley Fofana, and Liam Delap.
The Champions League fantasy football contest begins Tuesday, and results should be available early Thursday.
