The Premier League is filled with skilled merchants. And teams who can pass the ball very well tend to get good results. Everyone knows this. But in the 2023/24, who are the players making killer, key passes?

The results may surprise a lot of the readers. The stats clearly omit some obvious candidates and favour some that are barely on the radar of most casual fans.

But the key passes stat says something about team vision and individual quality. Here are the top EPL players in this category.

Rank Player Team Key Passes
1 Kieran Trippier Newcastle Utd 31
James Maddison Tottenham 31
3 Bruno Fernandes Manchester Utd 29
4 Pedro Neto Wolves 25
Dominik Szoboszlai Liverpool 25
6 Bukayo Saka Arsenal 23
Alfie Doughty Luton Town 23
Phil Foden Manchester City 23
9 James Ward-Prowse West Ham 22
Dejan Kulusevski Tottenham 22
Mohamed Salah Liverpool 22

Fantasy football puts a high emphasis on passes, of course. Key passes, the ones that lead to goals or goalscoring chances, are often where the difference between one team and another made on the field and in the FootballCoin contests.

Remarkably, the player who has provided the most key passes until now is Kieran Trippier. The England international has been Newcastle’s engine since returning to the Premier League. He currently has 5 assists in 8 matches and is playing the football of his career.

Right behind him is James Maddison. To say that his transfer to Tottenham has been a match made in heaven is not an understatement. In fact, it is now, as a playmaker for Spurs that Maddison is finally fulfilling his true potential.

Bruno Fernandes’s addition may not be a surprise. He is Manchester United’s classic number 10, after all. However, Alfie Doughty of Luton Town’s addition to the list might catch some off guard. This speaks of the 23-year-old’s creativity and of Luton’s reliance on him to provide something special.

Of note is also Julian Alvarez’s addition to the list. While the Argentine was brought in to play as an advanced forward and deputy for Erling Haaland, Pep Guardiola is getting the best of the youngster. Making 2.6 progressive passes per 90 minutes and a success rate of 77%, may we see Alvarez developing into a possession star in the vein of Bernardo Silva or Kevin de Bruyne?

Stats and the fine details matter the most in creating a successful fantasy football side. Key passes are just one of the important stats that can make you win your daily FootballCoin contests.
