Former Real Madrid forward Jese Rodriguez shared his thoughts on Antoine Griezmann’s possible status at Real Madrid. The current Atletico player is on the radar of numerous teams, including Real.
In spite of all the praise Griezmann’s been receiving for a few seasons, Jese says he doesn’t see the player in the starting team for Real. Jese’s opinion is that the Madrid side has better options to depend on. Asked if his former team should continue to fight for Griezmann’s signature, the current Las Palmas forward had this to say. “No, because there are a lot of better players than him in the team.”
There is, of course, the posibility Jese is staring down his future adversary. Las Palmas is playing Atletico Madrid on Saturday. Jese Rodriguez is on loan to Las Palmas from French champions Paris Saint-Germain. The transfer to France saw Real make a cool €25million when they sold the player last August.
Naturally, fans of Atletico would prefer Griezmann play for any other team in the world, than rivals Real. Jese says he still feels loyalty for his former club. If given the opportunity to join Atletico, the forward says he would likely refuse.
“In football, you never really know where you might end up but in my case, I don’t think so,” he said. “I’ve always been a Real Madrid fan, I developed as a player there, it’s the club which gave me everything and for whom I have 100 per cent respect.”
Jese didn’t comment on his own abilities to break into Real’s current squad, but spoke of comparisons made between himself and Cristiano Ronaldo. He says that such comparisons are flattering, however he is trying to make his own mark.
“I don’t like comparing myself with anyone, I think every player has qualities of their own, different characteristics and not all players are the same,” Jese added.
“Obviously, it is very nice to be compared to someone like Cristiano, I’m not going to deny it, but I don’t really like being compared to other footballers.”
