Great teams, many games, and a consistent selection of surprises. That’s what seems to be waiting for us in Round 3 of the UEL.
But who are you entrusting your Europa League fantasy football selection to? I’ve got a few suggestions, born from a decade of writing fantasy football advice columns. Here they are!
I suggest creating your ideal UEL team in FootballCoin‘s daily fantasy football game. It’s free to register and play, and daily prizes await the top performers.
My R3 Fantasy Squad Reveal
I find it harder to pick a good UEL team than any other competition. That’s why I am considering recent performances, the quality of the opposition and budget needs.
This time, I am opting to go for a 4-3-3 formation.
Goalkeeper
Andrei Radu (Celta Vigo) – 2* and Free w/lease in FootballCoin – Typically, I find you get either a great or a horrible performance from Radu. At the moment, he’s form has greatly improved. He can be the hero of the team in a difficult away game against Celtic Glasgow.
Defenders
Emmanuel Agbadou (Besiktas) – 2* and Free w/lease in FootballCoin – Everyone knows about all the money flying around in Turkish football. During this European season, Besiktas is the only team that has not disappointed. Central defender Agbadou is a very practical choice.
Ruben Kluivert (Lyon) – 1* and Free in FootballCoin – Clubs tend to make great choices regarding their youth players when they’re forced to. Ruben Kluivert has steadily been given more opportunities, largely because of OL’s financial distress. However, I can see him doing well this week in the UEL.
Tomas Araujo (Benfica) – 2* and Free w/lease in FootballCoin – Araujo is a consistent performer, a mature player, and, most likely, one that we’ll soon see in a stronger league than the Portuguese competition.
Kassoum Outtara (Besiktas) – 2* and Free w/lease in FootballCoin – Outtara is a left-back with good speed and an even greater cross. He hasn’t received a lot of playing time in the Turkish Super Lig. He’ll relish the chance to start against a Crystal Palace side that just got hammered 5-0 by Brighton at the weekend.
Midfielders
Tyler Morton (Lyon) – 2* and Free w/lease in FootballCoin – Morton’s opportunities, at the moment, come mostly in the UEL. He did wonderfully in Lyon’s notable victory over Crystal Palace. I think he’s a great choice for Round 3.
Luka Sucic (Real Sociedad) – 2* and Free w/lease in FootballCoin – I was expecting a bit more from Sociedad this season, I confess. Still, Sucic has had a good season so far. This, together with the price tag and the fact that the Basque team is playing Lillestrøm, makes me think he’s a good pick once again.
Noah Nartey (Lyon) – 1* and Free in FootballCoin – The Danish 21-year-old has wonderful potential. His skill on the ball makes him one of the more exciting players in Ligue 1 at the moment. This is a worthwhile pick
Fredrik Aursnes (Benfica) – 2* and Free w/lease in FootballCoin – Benfica is precisely the kind of team that will want to try and win the Europa League. The start to the campaign has been strong. As I predicted, Aursnes has done well throughout it.
Forwards
Ernest Nuamah (Lyon) – 2* and Free w/lease in FootballCoin – Lyon looks like one of the favourites to win the Europa League this season. If that happens, youngster Nuamah will play a starting role. Nuamah has scored four goals in the last five games, and more could be added this week.
Karim Alajbegovic (Juventus) – 1* and Free in FootballCoin – At this stage, if you’re a Juve fan, you take what you can get. There’s tremendous hope that Alajbegovic can be what the likes of Kolo Muani and Nick Woltemade have failed to be so far. Personally, I can see a lot of potential.
Igor Paixao (Olympique Marseille) – 2* and Free w/lease in FootballCoin – Through all the chaos that has rocked OM over the past 12 months, Paixao has been one of the few consistent performers. On paper, Sturm Graz should be the kind of team that he performs well against. He’ll be in my team!
