Tired of all those overly rich, smug clubs back in the Champions League? You’ve got a good reason to be.
How about taking a chance on the spectacle of the Europa League instead? Some might even call it the more honest European football competition. I might.
Then again, I’ve been writing these fantasy football suggestion lists for nearly a decade now. Here are the players that I think you can use for your team and how you can find them in FootballCoin.
My Round 2 Fantasy Squad Reveal
We’ve got a bit of sorting to do, haven’t we? The UEL groups include a lot of teams and a lot of untested potential.
I’m going for picks, in general, that don’t involve a major shake-up of the budget.
I’m playing a 4-3-3 formation this time. I find that it suits the FootballCoin scoring system for the UEL the best. But I think that the extra attackers can work for any fantasy football game.
Goalkeeper
Walter Benitez (Crystal Palace – 2* in FootballCoin) – He’s Dean Henderson’s understudy. He’s done well in Round 1 of the UEL. And he might get a workout against Lyon. Most importantly, he can turn those saved chances into points. There are few better options.
Defenders
Adrien Truffert (Bournemouth – 3* in FootballCoin) – In a shaky start to the season, Truffert has played really nicely down the flank. His contribution could prove decisive in what will, without doubt, be an important night for Bournemouth supporters.
Luken Beitia (Real Sociedad – 2* in FootballCoin) – Beitia is only getting minutes in the UEL so far, not La Liga. I expect him to make the best of this opportunity. Besides, there’ll be plenty of work to do against a team like Union St. Gilloise.
Zeki Celik (Juventus – 2* in FootballCoin) – Juve need to make the best of a game like this one against Celta Vigo. Tougher Serie A opponents will not be as forgiving, and fan support is vital right now. Celik had a great Round 1. On the flank, the full-back does great.
James Hill (Bournemouth – 3* in FootballCoin) – Yes, Hill has struggled in the last two Premier League fixtures. However, I think that his ability to read the game and his strength in the air are just what Bournemouth need for this UEL fixture.
Midfielders
Tyler Adams (Bournemouth – 2* in FootballCoin) – British teams have tended to dominate the first round of the European competitions. I’m fairly confident in Bournemouth’s chances against Sturm Graz. It’s the kind of game that Tyler Adams must make the best of, and I think that he will.
Fredrik Aursnes (Benfica – 2* in FootballCoin) – I’m not enamoured with this version of Benfica. But I think that Aursnes is a real talent. All of the Portuguese team’s attacks seem to involve him. He’s also affordable and, even Jose Mourinho might encourage you to make this pick.
Noah Sadiki (Sunderland – 2* in FootballCoin) – Sunderland has largely maintained the team that brought the club unexpected European football last season. Sadiki was vital then, and remains the same way now.
Forwards
Ryan Christie (Bournemouth – 2* in FootballCoin) – Is Christie a striker, or rather an attacking playmaker? Either way, he’s likely to get in front of goal in this UEL game at home against Sturm Graz.
Wilson Isidor (Sunderland – 2* in FootballCoin) – Brian Brobbey has kept Isidor out of the first team in the EPL. However, Isidor is an excellent poacher. Against Torreense, he’ll definitely try to use this chance to sneak back into the starting 11.
Mikel Oyarzabal (Real Sociedad – 4* in FootballCoin) – Oyarzabal is likely the best-known player in the UEL this season. And games like this one, against St. Gilloise, are the kind where he should really come alive. Sure, picking him will demand more of your budget than you might like, but I think it’s a worthwhile call.
3 Must-Have “Sleeper Picks” for R2
Viljami Sinisalo (Celtic) – Celtic’s opponents, the once-mighty Benfica, will huff and puff. But will that be enough to blow the doors down? I don’t think so. In fact, I think that this semi-unknown Finnish goalkeeper could put in a fantastic performance here.
CJ Egan-Riley (O. Marseille) – Remember him? Well, Marseille’s undergoing a turbulent period. However, this has meant Egan-Riley has become favoured at central defender. I don’t see the team winning against Olympiacos. But that doesn’t mean that the defender won’t have a good game, will it?
Enzo Le Fee (Sunderland) – An excellent midfielder, Le Fee was one of last season’s EPL revelations. He’ll get the chance to play in an international club competition. Yes, I think he’s the kind of player worth keeping tabs on for the whole of this fantasy football season.
3 Star Players You Could Avoid
Goncalo Ramos (AC Milan) – I do like Ramos and AC Milan. Still, I think that RB Salzburg’s fame has been forged on nights like this, and the Portuguese will find it hard to get scoring opportunities in Austria.
Adam Wharton (Crystal Palace) – Yes, I know that Wharton has been absolutely integral to Palace’s recent domestic and international success. However, I also think that Lyon, a team with plenty of UEL experience itself, will know how to neutralise his contributions.
Dusan Vlahovic (Besiktas) – It’s come to this, huh? I still believe that the Serbian striker can kickstart his career back to life. But I would be surprised if that restart began away in Germany in the UEL.
