The 2024/2025 Eredivisie fantasy football is more than the story of managers losing based on Ajax Amsterdam’s inconsistency and PSV Eindhoven’s miraculous recovery. It’s a story that, at its heart, has one of the liveliest, best-constructed football systems in the world.
What about the stars? I’ve looked at the stats, and this is the Eredivisie Team of the Season. How many of these players were regulars to your fantasy football team?
The 2024/2025 Eredivisie Team of the Season
Goalkeeper
Olij Nick (Sparta Rotterdam) – 1911 points
Olij Nick was not just the top goalkeeper in the Eredivisie, but the best all-around player. It just goes to prove what your fantasy football team can achieve with the help of a consistent goalie.
Sparta registered the fifth-best defensive record in Eredivisie. But it was Nick’s saves that bring him into the Team of the Season.
Defenders
Mees Hilgers (Twente Enschede) – 711 points
It was another respectable campaign for Twente Enschede. No, there won’t be any European football next season for the club. But Mees Hilgers, with his impressive tackling and ability to read the game, will be on the radar of teams playing at the highest level.
Jorrel Hato (Ajax Amsterdam) – 707 points
Had Ajax Amsterdam avoided stumbling in the final stages, this would’ve been a perfect season for Jorrel Hato. The youngster made himself a near-permanent fixture of the starting eleven, managing to contribute six assists along the way.
Ryan Flamingo (PSV Eindhoven) – 688 points
The 22-year-old Ryan Flamingo rewarded Peter Bosz’s faith in him with strong performances across a campaign in which he has started all but one of PSV’s Eredivisie matches. Fabulous passing and the ability to win duels against much more experienced strikers make Flamingo one of the defenders to watch.
Stije Resink (FC Groningen) – 681 points
Stije Resink was the standout player of a mid-table FC Groningen side. The tough defensive midfielder scored 5 goals, provided 2 assists, and picked up 4 Man of the Match caps along the way. Resink has earned his place in the Eredivisie Team of the Season.
Midfielders
Sem Steijn (Twente) – 1556 points
Did Sem Steijn pass the eye test? Some fans might disagree. But the stats speak louder than any of them. Steijn, one of the best free-kick takers in the Eredivisie, showed up both in the Eredivisie and the Europa League. And without causing much of a fuss, he stacked up enough points to enter the conversation as one of the league’s finest players.
Tobias Lauritsen (Sparta Rotterdam) – 1521 points
Tobias Lauritsen was often Sparta’s best performer. The Norwegian midfielder rarely lost a duel this season. Using his physicality and wealth of experience, Lauritsen managed to score 10 goals and provide 2 assists. His place in the TOTS feels like the obvious conclusion to his campaign.
Joey Veerman (PSV Eindhoven) – 1216 points
Joey Veerman is, surely, one of Eredivisie’s most talented and well-established players. He played a key part in PSV’s late-season blitz to the top of the league. And it’s hard to imagine Peter Bosz‘s team plans working without Veerman’s expert passing skills.
Kenneth Taylor (Ajax Amsterdam) – 1211 points
Kenneth Taylor is back in the Team of the Season, despite the collapse of Ajax’s season in the latter stages of the campaign. At 23 years of age, Taylor is one of the Netherlands’ finest midfielders, and. a player who will surely play a part for team and country in the future.
Forwards
Luuk de Jong (PSV Eindhoven) – 1526 points
Luuk de Jong’s 14 goals that won PSV another title make this one of the best campaigns for the 34-year-old striker. This is one that fans will remember for years, maybe decades to come. It’s only fitting that the veteran player is also FootballCoin’s best Eredivisie striker.
