Verratti says winning the title is not PSG’s only objective

PSG suffered a clear 3-1 defeat to Nice that moves the French side further away from clinching French championship title. Despite the loss, Verratti is optimistic about PSG’s growth as a team.

It would have been PSG’s fifth consecutive title in France. The French championship is a competition the team has clearly dominated ever since the Qatari takeover which has made the club one of the richest in world football.

However, last night nerves seemed to get the better of the PSG players. The team had an Thiago Motta and Angel Di Maria sent off and the rest of the players seemed physically and mentally fatigued. Nice won with a comfortable 3-1 scoreline. The defeat leaves PSG three points behind first place Monaco, who also has a game in hand.

Marco Veratti remains optimistic about the outcome of the season. The midfielder has been one of the team’s best players and is drawing the interest of many high profile clubs. The player says that despite the loss, PSG is continuing to develop as a club.

“If Paris are not champions, we will not have achieved what we had in mind at the start of the season,” said Verratti .”But I think PSG are always a team that grows, I feel better after this season. “

“After in football other teams can win, this season Monaco has chances to win. They win all the matches they will finish with 95 points. Last season we had already won the championship.”

The midfielder also talked about the game against Nice. Veratti says the team will continue to fight for the title as long as there is a chance of winning.

Verratti PSG “We had a good second half, they made three shots, three goals, pretty goals. It is more complicated for the title but there is still a small percentage. We will play until the end, we must already win the last three games. We also have Nice behind. We cannot finish the season there [third], and then there is also the [Coupe de France] final [against Angers].”
