La Liga fantasy football remains the refuge for football romantics trying to continue enjoying the thriving European footy market. That’s because the games remain fast, fun, and involve upsets.

You’re likely to find some of those surprises in this article. Here are the 11 players who make up the Team of the Season for the 2024/2025 edition.

The 2024/2025 La Liga Team of the Season

Goalkeeper

Joan Garcia (Espanyol)

You have to be a pretty remarkable goalkeeper to stroll into this Team of the Season considering the competition. Espanyol, typically, finished just below the midline of the table. But Joan Garcia’s 75% save rate certainly saved the team the anxiety of potential relegation.

Defenders

Florian Lejeune (Rayo Vallecano)

Besides, perhaps Kylian Mbappe and Antoine Griezmann, there was no better French player in La Liga in 2024/25. And, Florian LeJeune is the only one to make the fantasy football Team of the Season. Disciplined tactically and excellent in offence, the central defender proved that at 34 years of age, he’s still got it.

Antonio Raillo (RCD Mallorca)

It was a poor end to the season for RCD Mallorca. This must’ve been especially hard to take for Antonio Raillo. The central defender was a great leader, winning important duels and providing passes effortlessly throughout the campaign.

Marcos Alonso (Celta de Vigo)

Fantasy football managers may not have had former Chelsea defender Marcos Alonso high on their list of priorities at the start of the season. But the veteran player was excellent, Celta de Vigo registering strong stats for his assistance in the team’s build-up play and occasional goals.

Daley Blind (Girona) fantasy football la liga

Daley Blind (Girona)

Another year, another place in the Team of the Season for Daley Blind. While Girona no longer threatened the top positions in La Liga, as it had done the season prior, the team cemented its reputation. Blind, again, was available in the centre and on the left, as was required of him, and played well in both roles.

Midfielders

Federico Valverde (Real Madrid)

If there’s one player that Real Madrid can’t do without, it is Uruguayan rabble-rouser and all-around great footballer Federico Valverde. The player was fantastic whenever he was needed and in whatever role he was required to play. Velverde is certainly one of the best and most underrated footballers in the world.

Dodi Lukebakio (Sevilla)

No reason to smile this season either for the once mighty Sevilla. But if there was ever a brief moment of hope, it was at the end of the campaign when fans glanced admiringly at Dodi Lukebakio’s stats. The Belgian midfielder scored 11 goals in the best season of his career.

Jude Bellingham (Real Madrid)

Last season, Jude Bellingham was unstoppable and won Real Madrid the league. This season, he had to share the limelight, play more defensively and contend with simply being part of the Team of the Season. Bellingham remains, however, a colossal player who has not even hit the peak of his abilities just yet.

Alex Baena (Villareal)

It’s good to see Alex Baena in this TOTS Starting 11, especially because I assume that we may be seeing a lot of him in these kinds of lists. The 23-year-old provided 9 assists, along with 7 goals, as he played in a variety of midfielder roles.

Raphinha (FC Barcelona)

Raphinha fully got his revenge on the naysayers this season. Who knew that the Brazilian could be a 32-goal-a-season player back when Marcelo Bielsa was coaching him over at Leeds?

Raphinha fully deserves his place in the Team of the Season, and earns his spot ahead of players like Kylian Mbappe or Vinicius Jr.

Lamine Yamal (FC Barcelona) fantasy football La liga

Lamine Yamal (FC Barcelona)

Lamine Yamal is the most hyped player in the world. But, for once, all of the praises are rightfully distributed. A phenomenal footballer who has not even turned 18 years old yet, Yamal’s done some truly dazzling things on a football pitch over the past 12 months. The stats also show him to be one of the greats, having provided 20 assists and 20 goals this season for FC Barcelona and Spain.
