Neymar scored his 100th goal for Barcelona in the convincing 4-1 victory over Granada. It’s only Neymar’s fourth season in Spain. The Brazilian thanked his team-mates for their support.

Neymar scored the goal in stoppage time with a volley and entered the history books. He is the third Brazilian player, after Rivaldo and Evaristo, to reach this feat at Barcelona. It was the player’s 177th game at the Camp Nou.

Neymar opten to use the opportunity to shine a light on his team-mates. He thanked his colleagues for their support. Barcelona’s offensive talent also includes the likes of Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez, making it one of the strongest attacks in Europe.

“I am happy to reach goal 100 and I dedicate it to my colleagues who always help me,” Neymar told reporters at Barca TV. “I am happy with the victory that is the important thing. I stay with everyone because everyone has been important, but the best of all was the first in the Super Cup.”

Neymar is on great good form. Previous to the game, he scored in both of Brazil’s games against Paraguay and Uruguay as his team secured qualification to the 2018 World Cup. Neymar scored 15 times for Barcelona this season and contributed 18 assists.

Manager Luis Enrique was quick to congratulate the player. He says he wishes Neymar will score another 900 goals for Barcelona. Neymar joins colleagues Messi and Suarez as players who have reached this landmark.

“He has numbers [which show he is] a beast of a footballer,” Enrique told reporters.

“He’s one of the most unbalancing players in the world [for opposition defences] and his signing by this club was a great decision. I hope he scores another 900 goals, so we can keep seeing him at Barcelona for many more years.”

Enrique was complimentary with the entire team’s playing and singled out striker Paco Alcácer. “Paco is always ready to help the team,” said Luis Enrique. “Even when he doesn’t have a chance to start. He scored a goal, he got an assist and he played a very complete game.”

Barcelona continue to be 2 points behind Real Madrid in their attempt to retain the Primera Division title. Real Madrid won 3-0 against Alaves. Elsewhere, Atletico Madrid secured a 2-0 victory away to Málaga, while Sevilla could only manage a 0-0 draw against Sporting de Gijón.
