It’s not quite a qualification, and not exactly a punishment for the teams in the UCL play-offs. What it certainly does mean is that exciting fantasy football Champions League contests will be getting underway.

That doesn’t mean much without a plan. Here are the picks that you can use to start yours.

Are These the Players You Need for the Champions League Fantasy Football Play-Off?

Tuesday UCL Games

Surely, Benfica vs Real Madrid is the most intriguing fixture. But that’s only because one team should have already qualified while the other should be watching at home.

Against the odds, Jose Mourinho has proven he knows how to break his former team, Real, down. I think that Schjelderup, Aursnes (unless injured), and veteran Otamendi are great picks. Goal-scoring goalie Trubin might deserve a shout.

However, if the Madridistas don’t underestimate the Portuguese players again, MbappéViníciusCamavinga, and Valverde will be strong picks. Meanwhile, in FootballCoin, defenders Huijsen and Carreras are some of the best affordable choices you can find.

Meanwhile, I don’t think many expected Galatasaray or Juventus to make this far. However, both teams have been playing fairly well recently.

If you are choosing to play with a single striker, you may calmly hand that spot to Osimhen. You expect Yilmaz, Gundogan or Sanchez to know they’re being paid specifically for nights like this. As for Juve, Locatelli, Cambiaso, and Bremer played well against Internazionale at the weekend. They’re fairly good picks!

It’s an all-out French derby in the play-offs, with PSG slight favourites against Monaco. Try not to get sidetracked by the amount of star power on display! If you can afford it, Marquinhos, Pacho, Vitinha, Neves and Dembele make great picks. However, Kehrer, Zakaria and Balogun have shown they can play against the best. I’d also take a chance on Fati, who has, when fit, been brilliant this season, and will want to prove himself on a top stage.

I have confidence that this Atalanta side can score goals in Germany against an unimpressive Dortmund side. Midfield mastermind De Roon is a great pick. Pasalic and Scamacca are proven scorers. And, I even think Carnesecchi can get points from a clean sheet here.

Wednesday UCL Games

Newcastle’s Eastern trip to play Qarabag looks likely to supply your fantasy football team with the highest number of starting players. Tonali, Hall, and Gordon are must-haves.

There’s plenty of snow and a good deal of confidence back in Bodo in the Arctic Circle. However, Inter Milan is on a good run of form, having just triumphed against Juventus. Esposito and Martinez can score here. Calhanoglu, Barella, Zielinski and the fiery Bastoni have shown that they’re motivated to bring silverware to the club this season. Meanwhile, taking a chance goalie Haikin has proven to often pay off.

Club Brugge played exciting football in the UCL this season. Atletico hasn’t. That’s why, if you’re looking for affordable picks, Stankovic, Mechele, Forbs, and the always brilliant Vanaken are the way to go.

Finally, Olympiacos should be excited about the opportunity to move forward. Leverkusen’s overhyped team hasn’t impressed recently. That’s why Taremi, Martins, Rodinei or Costinha are, similarly, good, affordable picks for your UCL fantasy football team.

UCL Players to Avoid in Fantasy Football

There’s a certain temptation to pick Woltemade as Newcastle faces Qarabag. However, the German’s recent form doesn’t inspire confidence.

Atletico is having an unimpressive season. I don’t see any reason to stretch your budget to get Alvarez, Koke, or Sorloth at this moment. Future performances may change things.

There are also some notable injuries to consider, which include De Ketelaere, Barrios, Aursnes (possibly), Bro, den Heuvel, Kabar, Can, Dumfries, Seghir, Flekken, Akliouche, Dier, Minamino, Guimaraes, Joelinton, Yaremchuk, Mayulu, Bellingham, Rodrygo, and Militao.

In terms of suspensions, you’ll want to avoid Asslani, M. Junior, Asencio, and Rodrygo.
