The Best Dribblers in the Premier League in 2024 So Far

By Eduard Bănulescu

The best dribblers in the Premier League might get overlooked these days. This didn’t used to happen. However, it’s tactics, discipline and strength that rule the game.

Still, for fans, there’s still nothing more satisfying than witnessing a successful take-on. It’s the very essence of the beautiful game.

This is the reason why today we honor the best dribbles, the best take-on merchants in the Premier League for the 2023/24 season

The Best Dribblers in the Premier League in 2024 So Far

Why Ghana, Algeria and Tunisia were easily knocked out of AFCON

Mohammed Kudus – West Ham United

Mohammed Kudus is the classic baller, the player who seems to be able to do everything with the ball at his feet. His ability has been rising steadily. He is carving a career for himself both in the Premier League and internationally. Yet, his performances aren’t as often brought up as the likes of Phil Foden or Jude Bellingham. Why is that?

Part of this may be due to the perception of West Ham as an unentertaining team. This is not entirely correct, and Kudus’ stats are strong proof of that. The Ghanaian player leads the Premier League in terms of dribbles, with over 100 successful ones so far. Fans of the Hammers love him.

And while the player may even improve on his seven goals and five assists, there’s clearly something special about the way Mohammed Kudus dribbles a ball.

Jeremy Doku – Manchester City

It’s somewhat ironic that Jeremy Doku finds himself on this list. When Pep Guardiola brought the talented Belgian player to the Etihad, Doku was supposed to give Jack Grealish some proper competition and encourage the Englishman not to dribble so often.

Arguably, Doku has managed to be both tactically responsible and to bring fans to their feet. The winger has completed 78 take-ons at the time of writing.

Bruno Guimarães – Newcastle

Bruno Guimarães epitomizes everything that’s great, if slightly inefficient, about Eddie Howe‘s Newcastle. While the team is filled with offensive talent, they rely on Guimarães more than anyone to come up with creative solutions that open up the opposition’s defences.

More often than not, this involves dribbling. He has done it successfully 67 times in the Premier League this season.

Ross Barkley – Luton Town

Call it a comeback! All that Ross Barkley needed all along was a proper shot to get his carer back on track. And while Luton is still sweating their place in the EPL next season, one man who shone throughout was Barkley. He has managed 63 take-ons at the time of writing and is once again spoken of as one of the best players in the league. A fairytale story if there ever was one.

Luis Diaz – Liverpool

Some Liverpool fans have criticized Luis Diaz this season. But while his efficiency may be debated, there’s no question that the Colombian is entertaining to watch. His pace and dribbling are his greatest assets. Diaz has completed over 60 take-ons this season. And new manager Arne Slot will need to find the best way to work him into his tactical plans for next season.

Eberechi Eze – Crystal Palace

Eberechi Eze is just another great Crystal Palace player, blessed with extraordinary skill, who is scouted by the team’s top teams. That’s nothing new!

It may, perhaps, have taken the arrival of Oliver Glassner to Palace, replacing the legendary Roy Hodgson, to truly get the best out of Eze. But he has not certainly proven to be one of the finest dribbles in the league, successfully doing it 60 times this season.

Chiedozie Ogbene – Luton Town

Chiedozie Ogbene is the second Luton Town player on our list. This is clear proof that, whether The Hatters do go down or not, they have entertained audiences the way newly promoted Premier League teams rarely do. Ogbene has nearly 60 successful take-ons this season  and the Ivorian has done himself proud.

Mattheus Cunha – Wolves

Mattheus Cunha, like others on the list, brings flair and creativity to a Wolves side that is, for the most part, obsessed with keeping things today and tactically sound. The Brazilian has enjoyed a fine year all around and has successfully dribbled past opponents 59 times.

Rayan Aït-Nouri – Wolves

Rayan Aït-Nouri is Cunha’s partner in crime for Wolves. Together, they’ve made the fans at Molineaux Stadium dream of fancy footwork and exciting weekend matches. The Frenchman sits just behind his teammate in terms of take-ons. But, with Wolves, sitting comfortably mid-table, there may be a few more opportunities for the two players to show off their skill this season.

Jordan Ayew - Premier League fantasy football

Jordan Ayew – Crystal Palace

A Premier League veteran, Jordan Ayew, has shown in yet another season that he is one of the most dependable attacking players in the league. He has provided 7 assists, scored 4 himself, and managed over 50 successful dribbles. In fact, Ayew remains one of the best transfers Crystal Palace’s hierarchy has sanctioned since 2018.
