English Premier League Fantasy Tips & Tricks: Improving Your Selection Strategy

Eduard Bănulescu

The 2023/24 season of the Premier League is about to start this weekend. Judging by the numerous club transfers as well as the, sadly, inevitable injuries, this will be a tricky one as far as fantasy football managers are concerned.

Think of this as a cheat sheet. This list of fantasy football tips could help your team score points. Don’t forget to use this information and other knowledge for the free FootballCoin contests.

Gameweek 1 – Fantasy football tips

There’s always an air of mystery about the new season’s first week. It’s easy to assume that teams will play more conservatively.

Furthermore, managers may opt to introduce some of the new transfers slowly into their first team plans. That’s why a more conventional approach may also be preferable for fantasy football managers.

Jordan Pickford remains one of Everton’s strongest players. Against a Fulham side that will be without their talismanic scorer, Aleksandar Mitrovic, and with the less impressive Raul Jimenez, we bank on a good performance from the England #1.

We’d consider tried and tested EPL defenders for Gameweek 1 as well. While the likes of Tyone Mings and Konsa Ngoyo performed well for Aston Villa last time around, they might struggle against Newcastle’s offensive power.

Instead, we recommend opting for defenders like Luke Shaw, Raphael Varane, Ruben Dias and Kyle Walker. Both Manchester clubs have relatively straightforward fixtures where experience will count big.

With an improved midfield pivot, United’s Bruno Fernandes should also do well. Declan Rice may still have to prove himself, but Martin Odegaard looks like a sure-fight bet as Arsenal take on Nottingham Forest.

Also, don’t forget about Brighton‘s strong end to the season and about Kaoru Mitoma‘s excellent performances.

Some things don’t change, and I expect the same goalscoring prowess from Erling Haaland. Facing a newly promoted side on the opening day seems like the ideal scenario for the Norwegian striker.

Meanwhile, if you’re looking for a backup, Harry Kane‘s failed transfer to Bayern Munchen may come in useful. If you’re looking for a dark horse pick, why not take a chance on Odsonne Edouard as Crystal Palace takes on Sheffield United?

While consistency is important, FootballCoin will allow you to pick a brand new team each week. This means that new chances for success are always forthcoming.
