Juventus dominated Italian football for a decade. No other club in Europe had quite the same commanding lead over their rivals. In the past two seasons, things changed unexpectedly. Last year, Inter Milan won the Scudetto.

This year, their city rivals, AC Milan are bidding alongside them for the top spot. Alo, Napoli, who hasn’t won the award since the days of Maradona, is in the race.

Who are the players responsible for this belated, but extraordinary comeback?

We’ll judge using stats. More precisely, we will use FootballCoin’s detailed fantasy football data. And, for once, we’ll have no places for Juventus’ stars.

Here are the Serie A players that would have made your 2021/22 fantacalcio team better.

Napoli’s fanta stars

Mario Rui

First of all, it needs to be said that this is hardly a vintage Napoli side. Luciano Spalletti might as well be crowned as a Serie A miracle worker. The manager has got the best out of his players. The perfect example is wing-back Mario Rui. Unremarkable in previous campaigns, Rui has had a standout season. The Portuguese defender has provided 4 assists. That may not sound like much. But, his contributions have been consistent, and top-notch.

Giovani Di Lorenzo

There’s no such feeling of surprise when it comes to Giovani Di Lorenzo. The defender was a starting player for Italy in their Euro20 triumph. This season he has grown into one of Napoli’s leaders. His shuttling runs and excellent tackling helped put Napoli back on track.

Victor Osimhen

No mention of Napoli’s season should omit to mention Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian striker was injured for long spells. However, when fit, he looked like a world-beater. Osimhen is already touted as one of the great forwards in football. If Napoli wins the Scudetto, the forward will have played a vital role.

AC Milan’s delayed comeback

Franck Kessié – AC Milan

Theo Hernandez

This year, Theo Hernandez put his days as a Real Madrid prospect behind him. Instead, he became one of Serie A’s best players. His smart sprints down the left flank and commitment epitomize the role of the modern wing-back.

Sandro Tonali

Tonali was the most talked-about Italian player for many years. His arrival at AC Milan, initially, disappointing fans. This season he came into his own. Tonali does have the makings of a great playmaker. Winning the Scudetto would only help confirm the opinion of many football scouts.

Fikayo Tomori

Serie A is becoming the place where you English players come to prove themselves. It works for Chris Smalling, and for Tammy Abraham. It also works for Tomori. The defender got few opportunities for his former employer, Chelsea. For Milan, however, he has been excellent throughout the season.

Inter’s players looking for a second win in a row

Arturo Vidal – Inter Milan

Hakan Calhanoglu

Calhanoglu committed the ultimate act of treason. He switched one Milan powerhouse for another. Fortunately for Inter fans, he retained his considerable abilities. This season, there were few players greater than the Turkish midfielder.

Marcelo Brozovic

Brozovic is among a number of highly-talented midfielders on Inter’s books. The Croatian possesses great skill and maturity. This season, like the last, he has not disappointed. Inter is in poll-position to win another Scudetto.

Samir Handanovic

Samir Handanovic may be getting on in age. However, he remains one of Serie A’s top goalkeepers. Next season, he will need to contend with the competition of Andre Onana. For now, the veteran keeper remains a standout player and a safe pair of hands for Inter.
