Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says that their most recent transfer, Mohamed Salah, has all the qualities needed for a winger playing in the Premier League.
Salah’s arrival at Liverpool was greeted with a great deal of enthusiasm by fans, hoping the club will now have the necessary strength to take a step forward and challenge for the Premier League title. Klopp says that the Egyptian winger is the real deal, possessing all the qualities needed to be successful in England.
Klopp also says he has recently talked to Salah and that he is excited to join his new club. The chance to watch highlights of some of Salah’s performances online must have also added to the fans sense of anticipation, believes the German manager.
“Even if people didn’t know too much about him, they [must have] watched a few videos and they are impressive,” Klopp tells Liverpool’s official website. “We have had a few talks of course, spoke to each other – he is a really nice lad. He is really looking forward to coming to Liverpool and joining us.”
And what is Salah’s greatest attribute according to Klopp? Well, just about everything that a winger needs in order to be successful. Salah is quick, possesses good technique, he is a team player capable of setting up his team-mates, as well as a goal threat himself.
“He is a fantastic player, with speed. We said after last season, there are a few things we would try to involve in an already really good squad; one of the things is speed, being kind of a finisher, preparing chances, making goals and all that stuff. He brings all this in.”
“He is a naturally fit boy – he can run as quick and as long as he wants. That’s all good. I’m really looking forward to [working with him].”
Liverpool finished fourth last season and were it not for a few mistakes along the way, the team could easily have been contenders to win the trophy. With Klopp at the team’s helm, Liverpool proved to be extremely powerful against the league’s top clubs, with occasional slip-ups with some of the lower ranked clubs. However, if Liverpool can keep their top players and make slight improvements to their squad, there is no reason why they could not prove to be one of the top European clubs in the 2017-18 season.
