They’re football stars whose transfers would fetch around $100 million. And, in today’s price inflation, it’s the reason why players like Pogba, Eriksen, Ozil or Bale have had to return to their team’s training, not having received any serious transfer offers. Fans, the club and not even the clubs are too pleased. What does this mean for your fantasy football draft?
No offers for Christian Eriksen
The Dane lead Tottenham to a historic Champions League final last season. Following another successful year, he also handed in a transfer request. While hoping that Real Madrid would take the bait, Los Blancos seem to have had other plans. Zidane is rumored to still be interested in Paul Pogba. Eriksen, however, has received no official offers and returns to training with Spurs. Clubs simply don’t have the money to spend on the world-class star.
Pogba and Lukaku show no smiles as they travel with Manchester United
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer may still be convinced he can salvage the relationship with the likes of Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku. However, the players have tried to force an exit this summer. It’s gotten so bad that Pogba’s manager, Mino Raiola, has even gone public claiming the player wants to leave.
What’s holding up the transfer? Simply put, Juventus and Real Madrid are not willing to for the transfer cash fee on Pogba outright. This has also rippled to Gareth Bale, who may see out his contract in Madrid.
It’s a similar case for Inter Milan, who are anxious to sign Lukaku. The Italians are still waiting to see what changes with their current squad status in the weeks that follow.
Sanchez expected back, leaving few happy
Selling Alexis Sanchez may have been United’s main transfer focus in the summer of 2019. But, given that the Chilean forward is the most highly paid player in the Premier League, no offers have come in. As soon as Sanchez returns from an injury picked up on international duty, he is expected to be back with Manchester United. PSG are the only team rumored to have shown an interest in summer. But, even the French champs would not welcome the overspending of years prior.
Ozil’s transfer proves too expensive for the Turkish Super Lig
Getting Mesut Ozil to sign would have been quite a swoop for Turkish club Fenerbahce. But, an outright transfer has simply proven too expensive. The Turkish side has returned with a loan offer. Judging by Emery’s commitment to playing Ozil, the German midfielder may feel tempted to join the Turkish side.
