Barcelona will be looking to change their recent Champions league record against Roma. In the night’s other clash. Manchester City travel to Anfield, a stadium they haven’t won in since 2003.

Barcelona looking to get back on track

Recent seasons haven’t proved easy for Barcelona in the Champions League. Once a competition they dominated, the Camp Nou side have seen themselves eliminated in the Quarter-Finals in four of the last five seasons.

The Spanish team has in fact not lost any of their last 12 games against Italian sides. And with Lionel Messi set to make a full recovery in time for the game, there is every reason to be hopeful.

Lionel MessiRoma, on the other hand, are somewhat of a surprise in reaching this stage of competition. But with striker Edin Dzeko in an excellent run of form, they can give Barca a run for their money. Expect the Serie A side to start with an offensive 4-3-3 line-up. It remains to be seen if this will be enough to block Barcelona’s attacks.

Premier League derby moved towards the UCL

In the night’s other Champions League game, two of England’s best clubs battle it out for success in Anfield. Liverpool has been building a good string of results. Under the guidance of manager Jurgen Klopp and following the lead of exceptional Mohamed Salah, Liverpool are building towards bigger and better things.

Liverpool may be fighting for a second place in the Premier League, but top honors already seem to have been reserved for Manchester City. The club only has qualified once to this stage of the competition. However, Pep Guardiola has built much of his reputation on success in the UCL.

Firmino and Salah of LiverpoolA high quality display is to be expected with both teams looking to use their attacking strength to full capacity. It’s an unlikely the tie will be decided after only the first leg, with both teams looking to outdo each other.
